Used the base image as the dark exposure, created two virtual copies and created a mid and highlights version and used LM in PS to exposure blend.

That's dedication right there!

Similar to Dago's process I used the original as a dark base, back in ACR I did some massive noise reduction, raised exp., and made some other fine adjsts.
Took both copies to PS and reduced opacity on the dark copy, which I set above the light copy, until it looked about right. Then some 'selective color' layers and some
masking and tweeks here and there.

Okay calling it as it is!

Dago the winner, cinematic style. ;-)a
Douglas second, special mention for the added touch of the tattoo!!

Take it away Dago.

Too late to compete...still early enough for fun? :)

C&C always welcomed...
On my images, of course, and on my words as well--as long as it's constructive :).

The reddit page does this, pretty popular. It is a lot of fun comparing your style to others.

Sounds like fun.

Where on reddit is this?

First cab of the rank, and I must say man its a little difficult.
Good choice Dago, challenging which is REALLY appreciated.
You know me and HDR...............they don't go together! :p

So I took the Dark exposure, and worked with it. The other 2 had too many blown out components.
Played with contrast, enhancement, tones and GND to get something that I thought worked.
Lost the light rays, which was unfortunate as they are key IMO.
I'll work on the next iteration concentrating more on that.
I have other ideas, cause HDR just doesn't work with/for me!

Voila - Something at least!

1st version. Used all three images, made some adj. in ACR then off to
PS6 HDR Pro, then several adj. layers until I was happy enough!

Not sure about the end result, at least the light band is there!

Congrats Douglas, you win it w/ this version. I like the something different.
Pebal is runner up.

I'm guessing not many ppl like bracketed challenges. :)
