Hi Terry,
Ok, let me give you my first impression, boring, not well executed, next. I understand exactly why you took the shot and there is potential in there. There is a lot to love but when I see a photo I want to "feel" something. This photo is not exciting and for me does not immediately inspire me or give me any sense of wow.
Personally I think the focus of this photo is really the house and the setting. There is actually too much going on here and nothing exciting. The shot of the house is not executed well and the angle is not right. This shot could have worked but it, like many other shots, require a lot of work to do so. The tree in front of the house takes away from it. There are a few things that could have made a great shot, but it would have required tons of work. Good shots don't really happen they are deliberate. You have to take into consideration a ton of things. I look at the end result of my work (the photo image) as the way to convey a story, emotion etc. Look deeper into what you shot, don't get wrapped up by what "you" see but find a way to tell a story, with emotion if possible. Set up the shot, this means work. It may mean getting up at 4am to take this shot. It may mean getting permission from the homeowner. It may mean getting others to help you with lighting etc. There is a ton of work that goes into great shots. There are times when we fall into the perfect shot but believe me setting yourself up for success is a true winner in the end.
Thanks for sharing - thanks for putting up with my two cents.
