This should be my final shot of the Menger Hotel showcasing the front elevation.

This was a bit tough to edit. It's a vertical pano but with a bit of a twist. Here is the sequence.

Exposure blend 2 shots to recover highlight detail for my "bottom" frame.
Exposure blend 2 shots to recover highlight detail for my "top" frame.
Merge top and bottom frames in PS CC and auto blend to complete the vertical pano.
Correct any areas that didn't align properly in the blended image. In this case, there was more than usual so it took some time. Normally, I don't have to correct anything.
Complete my normal editing process in PS CC and Nik

Ah, there are those street lights that created the shadows I wondered about. :-)

Very nice edit on the pano too.

Haha, yep that’s them. Thanks Gene. That’s the Emily Morgan Hotel in the background which is another nice hotel here.

Big craze with a new cheese cake bakery in Metrotown, Burnaby, BC.

A7iii with Sigma MC-11 and 24Lmk2. Not sure if it's worth buying a Batis 25 f/2.....may just wait for a fat heavy 24mm f/1.4 Art for my casual sony setup. In good light I'm very impressed with the Canon 24Lmk2 at f/1.4 aperture.

Hey guys, i just now thought to look at this, but i just found out Lightroom 6.xx will not natively import RAW from the A7III

What do you all suggest for a program like lightroom as an alternative? I know I can go the Adobe Camera Raw > DNG and then edit route but I liked the simplicity of just importing in there and then working with stuff plus how it keeps it all organized for me... But Im also open minded and I'm not really interested in playing Adobes games :/

The other option you have is Adobe DNG converter. You can use that then import into LR?

Capture one pro for Sony is $80. It's a hell of a deal for a very capable software. I stopped my adobe CC subscription. I use good ole CS6 whenever I need to do deeper processing, but my catalog exists in capture one, and its where I do my standard raw processing.

Of course, C1 Pro for Sony may not be able to open the a7iii files yet either. What I've done in the past while waiting for the raw processors to be able to deal with raw files from new Sony cameras is to use Sony's free raw editor to open the file. Since that utility isn't very user friendly, I just export the raw file out to Photoshop as a .tif.

Here is the link to Sony's "Imaging Edge" software.

I read that C1 supported it before release?

DNG converter works for me + c1. even if I can export directly, I do dng a lot of the times to get a really small raw file. I just dont need large files that often.

I just checked and their site says "Capture One Express Sony is an award winning imaging editor for supported Sony cameras that comes with your Sony camera. " I looked up what cameras are supported and it did list the a7III as being one of them. I didn't look up whether Capture One Pro for Sony supports the a7III yet or whether an update needs to be downloaded.

I also just looked up whether the latest Adobe raw converter supports the a7III and it does. You may need to download the latest version of Adobe Camera Raw.

Bill, here's the page I quoted from above. If you didn't receive the software on a CD, maybe the manual had a link to download it.

You can also download it on this page.

An observation about how birds rule POTN: I just noticed the top 4 most-liked threads on POTN are all bird/wildlife threads. https://photography-on-the.net/forum/top_500_likes.php

This great thread is #5 and the older lounge thread is #6. We beat out the cats! :p

But look at how many likes the Bird Portrait thread has (208K) vs this Sony Lounge thread has (33K). Amazing.
