fur and feathers together.....
This poor fox was chased and harassed by this pair of magpies to the point of giving up and wandering off somewhere less stressy, took them about 10 mins!
It's the look on the poor fox' face,

That is a great series...really nicely done. It makes me feel bad for the fox.

well, hearing he same commotion whilst putting that post together I look out to see fox and magpie back at it again. Much better views and photos this evening....
Getting braver as well, very funny to watch, Mr pie keeps sneaking up behind and pecking the fox' tail, fox flicks his tail and mr pie flies out the way, rinse repeat....
The fox is competing with them for worms and things, it must be hungry it came closer to me than any fox ever, it knew I was there the whole time,
in fact this is the only fox ever that hasn't just legged it when it's seen me. I do know that my close ,the last shot is not cropped at all, is not the same as Jeffs close but anyway.....

Those are all excellent shots of the fox (and magpie). It had to be exciting to get such a wonderful opportunity to shoot a scenario like that one. You certainly made the best of it.

Great shots. They are quite sharp, especially with the 2X III converter. The 400 mm DO is really an outstanding lens.

I was not sure what to expect but so far it has exceeded my expectations. I'm also a real L lens fan. I did see images with the 2X so I took the chance. I had always wanted a 500mm but after waiting for many years I decided I was not getting any younger and everything else was getting heavier. A friend said this a few years back. Today is the youngest I'll ever be.

I am really noticing weight to be a problem in my old age. The 400 D0 is way lighter than the 500 and I've also used a 2X III converter on mine with good success.

Here's a shot with the 400 DO and a 2X III converter. I still had to do quite a bit of cropping. This bird was a long ways off.

I think I've said this before but, your dog is insanely cute.
