Canon EF 70-210 f3.5 - 4.5

Great lens! I had its “big brother”, the 100-300 f/4.6-5.6. I think the 70-210 had an edge in IQ, but I had a lot of fun with it back in the day.

Meyer Optik Trioplan 50mm f2.9 Altix mount, found on an Altix Camera that I bought for 5 euros.
The lens is very soft wide open but delivers the characteristic Trioplan bokeh.
I used an EOS-M42 adapter and a small extention ring, lens handheld.

I was given this lens by an old friend who knew that I had coveted the Angenieux 28-70mm f/2.6 zoom lens since I used the Angenieux 12-120mm f/2.5 zoom for shooting 16mm motion pictures. Angenieux could not manufacture the 28-70mm lens cheaply enough to compete with Japanese products (even now, the used price for this old lens is over $1,500) and sold the rights to produce the lens to Tokina who produced it as the 28-70mm f/2.6-2.6 ATX lens for export and as the 28-70mm f/2.8 ATX Pro for domestic Japanese consumption. My lens is an example of a lens produced by Tokina for domestic use. These lenses are not easily obtained since Tokina found out that even they could not produce the Angenieux design at a competitive price. They switched to an inferior SV (Special Value in this case was a oxymoron) model which is the lens most often encountered here in the USA. This is a greatly degraded model...

If you can get one, the pricepoint on the used market for a lens built to the Angenieux specifications is between $200 and $250 U.S. Dollars

I like it for shooting people with a crop sensor camera since the long end is about a 112mm equivalent and quite decent for portraiture while the short end is a 43mm equivalent which is also decent for shooting people because you will not get the distortion of a wider lens. At 21 ounces, it is 10-12 ounces lighter in weight than either the Canon 24-70 f/2.8L Mark-1 (33.6 oz) or the old Canon 28-70mm f/2.8L (31.1 oz).

The imagery is pretty nice too... These were shot with my Canon 7D Mark-2

NOTE: Adobe Camera RAW doesn't recognize this lens and thinks that it is a Canon 28-70mm f/3.5-4.5
