Well said Carlo and thank you. On IG, I'm starting to notice that many images are starting to look the same. I guess there is so much content that it's really hard to be distinctive there.

Yes IG has evolved into a legitimate photography network now. There’s a lot of garbage content on it, but I’ve cleaned up who I follow and now there is such an overabundance of technically good photography that I’m finding that it’s more the creative photos that tend to stand out.

I’ve been in a creative rut for a long while so it’s lately its caused more frustration with myself than motivation hah.

Stumbled across a handy website today for checking cloud cover when planning landscape shoots http://www.skippysky.com.au (external link)

Its an Australian site but you can change the map to North America and Europe etc. Lets you check the low, mid and high cloud at various time intervals.

Also found this link which has some handy sites too (like windy.com) - https://focusphotographers.org …g-great-sunrises-sunsets/ (external link)

So who's getting the new Nik suite update? I'm going for it. Also Greg Benz has a new exposure blending course for Lumenzia. I may pick that up as well.

portrait session on Friday..
the only FF lens I have is the 85 GM..
other than that I'm bringing along my sigma 18-35 1.8 art.. for wider shots.. I know this only gives me 18mp photos.. but what can I do, it is what it is for now.

question , I am most likely using available light as i'm traveling solo by subway into the city and need to keep things light..
maybe i'll bring one ad360 , and an old fashioned white shoot through umbrella, mayhbe.. depending on winds that day.. again , i'm alone.. so no on to hold things from falling over, and of course i'm not carrying around sandbags on the subway;-)a

question with exposdisc for proper white balance.. if i'm using available light... what do I aim it at? the sky? the model?

Assuming you aren’t using gels to correct the color of the ad360, I’d set a custom white balanced based on the exposure on your subject without the expodisk. White balance on your subject always takes precedence. Of course this might you get orange color casts from the ambient, but under exposing the ambient 1-2 stops should minimize it. If you want to expose more of the ambient and it’s a really hard tungsten color, you might need to color correct the ad360 so the ambient isn’t overly orange when you correct the white balance on your subject.

I use nik on every image (pro contrast within colour efex) so will def purchase if my current one stops working. Currebtly the free version is working fine for me though

Thanks,
I think as usual i worded my question in the most backwards wat possible..

What i meant to ask , if i dont bring the lights.. so using natural light only , no artificial lighting .
How do i set then?

I went ahead and purchased the updated version. I also use Nik Color Efex in just about every photo. I’ll report any changes.

To be honest, I'm surprised the original Nik plugins all still work even with Photoshop CC 2018. I'd probably buy this update if additional features have been added or improvements have been made but for now, I'll wait until closer to the end of this month and see what others have to say about it.
