Seems like every time I visit potn, I learn of another bird I’ve never heard of let alone seen! And my “education “ continues! Thanks for posting Eric-great photography!

Sorry for the feeder shot, but he showed up on our suet early this morning. Hope he comes back when the feeder isn't in the shadows.

There used to be a lot of them right near me during nesting season. . The huge wildfires of 2014 and 2015 burned most of the standing snags that they used for nest trees; hence, the past few years I hardly see them at all anymore.

It's sad - I feel like I've lost a local species.
