The type of people who are looking to buy used are not the type who are likely to buy a newly released model. .
The used folks are those who love it when current models are discontinued, because then the used prices go down even further.
Those who want the latest and greatest and those who habitually buy used are polar opposites..
I think you missed my point, which was that, as long as v2 is the current version, and a used v2 costs 25% less than a new one, many people will be more inclined to buy used since it's the same thing and costs less. Once there's a v3 out, before those start to penetrate the used market, a lot of buyers will opt for a new v3 instead of a new v2. I didn't say all.
I agree that the used price for a v2 might eventually drop after the v3 has been shipping, making it more attractive. The 2.8 v2 is a great lens from what I read here. It won't suddenly get worse just because a v3 is released.
