This is one from my archives that I recently found. It was one of my initial shots with the Loxia 21 I believe. Long exposure with the SR app. I believe that blue streak in the sky is the light from the building reflecting off some clouds.

Super shot. I like that the foreground fence posts are in focus as well as the building. Do you know what f-stop you used by chance or is this a composite?

Oh, and I especially like the light falling on the fence as well.

Thanks so much Gene. This was shot at f10 at ISO 100 and 20 seconds. Not a composite.

I think the reason why this image works for me from a composition standpoint is how it aligns to the 1.5 grid as seen below. This is a grid that I'm starting to use more often to help guide me on these dynamic vertical (and sometimes horizontal) perspectives. Notice the bottom line and how it matches the line of the fence. Also notice the intersection points. I don't recall all the technical names of the lines but I think this 1.5 grid is a real eye opener for me and thus I wanted to pass it on in case it's helpful to others here. I got the grids (vertical and horizontal) from Jim Welninski, whom I stumbled upon earlier this year. I love his work and learned a lot from his recent On1 video training classes back in February. The classes are no longer available unless you become an On1 Plus subscriber. I would love to take a workshop with him.

Just deleted my Instagram account. I found myself shooting for IG too much. I know my followers will be devastated (not)

well, I for one will miss your images. You shared many more of them there than you do here or on FB, and I always enjoy them, you have access to some great places...it gives me inspiration for going places...

I can see how it gets frustrating but if you are out creating and making images for yourself then follower count or likes shouldn't matter...I will never have a half nekkid hot chick on my shoots with me either...but I don't really care about that...I just enjoy getting out and making images...being outdoors...spending that time with my friends and usually my dad...

I have a trip this weekend, it was supposed to be me, my dad and 6 other photog friends...dad just let me know he won't be going, don't know why yet...we leave tomorrow, so its very last minute bail out...which is not like him....the trip won't be the same...

I think my Batis 18 is broke. I was shooting with it this morning and the AF motor kept running. I powered off the camera and it would be fine but when I went to focus, it started making buzzing sound again. I guess I have to send it in to Zeiss. -?

That doesn't sound good, any idea what happened.

I'm not sure. I hadn't used the lens for a few weeks and it was fine last time. I used it for about 20 minutes this morning before it started to buzz. From some research, it appears this has happened to other owners of the lens too. The motor needs to be replaced. Mine should still be under warranty but I'm not sure how to begin the process.

Yep! Luckily, I had my 16-35 GM so I continued the architecture shoot with that. I'm bummed though that my Batis 18 isn't healthy.

Sorry to hear that alfredo. I had my batis 85 sent to zeiss at one point...communication issues with the mount.

It was a pretty smooth and straight forward process and zeiss is easy to work with. I even sent it to the wrong office by mistake and they sorted it out for me.

Great to hear that you had a good experience Carlo. Did you have to send it overseas or the states? Thank you.

So sorry to hear about that Alfredo...hope the service process goes as well as Carlo described. :)

I messed up and focused on the frame of the glasses and not the eyes. I still like the shot. Looking forward to the future, draped in epic golden hour sun
