Ruddy Ducks in their ruddy red summer breeding plumage. The 1st photo is of a male "bubbling," which is a part of the courtship behavior. In the second photo, the male has an indistinct white cheek patch which is unusual. Usually the cheek patch is well defined, like on a Canada goose for example.
