wow Im seeing many hit the markets. I think there is going to be a major fire sale on these lens.

How low do you think they will go ??

Im going out on a limb and Im saying $600-650 for clean used ones

Give lots of pause to think about the new release

Im with Ed Radar. Im leaning very heavily to hitting the Buy button right now

Do you guys think the new improvements with be worth the Jump

Cant wait to see some reports and some pics from this new L

Not too familiar with the differences. I would seek out reviews once they are available. With that being said, I had the first version and only sold it because I wanted to fund a 2.8. I kinda have regretted that decision. I would have kept both! The weight alone was worth keeping. Not to mention the IQ and that it never needed AF Adjustment.

I'm holding on to mine. The current version is really an excellent lens. Even if the new version is superior to it in significant ways, the older version will still capture the same great images it did before.

my thoughts exactly...and I think I can PU one very very cheap in the next couple of months

The new one is going to have a much better IS system so I can hand hold at slower shutters and the bigger element is appealing with ND filter use

I think the larger filter size and IS increase will tempt lots of people. If I was still shooting Canon I'd consider it.

I have the current one, the I.S. is excellent and so is the image quality. My lens works very well with my Tamron 1.4X TC also, I can't see where my lens is lacking.

That's the non-IS version.

Totally overpriced.

Its not double the price better no way and if you have the ibis on your camera, the non is is perfectly fine.

Perhaps for you, but for me the IS is a game changer which allows me to capture tack sharp images at 200mm hand held at very slow shutter speeds. It also allows me to take non jittery video. We each have to decide what's important to us. For you its overpriced, for me it's the right price. i had considered the 70-200 f/2.8 IS USM, but at double the weight and double the price of my lens, I opted for the f4 IS version instead.

Fair enough but even if you need IS, its still not worth double the price. The lens is pretty much the same.

I'm still very happy with the Current 70-200 F/4 Is, Not selling it at this stage unless I do win some money in the Lotto to buy the new one.;-)a My next purchase I'm hoping to get this year is the Canon 100-400L which I'm trying to save up for it. :-)
