Back from Iceland. Lots of images to process. What a magical place. I'll be going back (maybe as soon as this summer).
The weather is mild (50s mostly) and overcast for the entire week. So while I missed out on some contrasty color, I did make up for in moody ambient lighting shots.
And we only got to explore the southern part of the country, since we were staying in Reykjavik the whole week.
Next time around, I'm driving around the whole place with overnight stays in different locales.

Stay tuned...

Sony A7RII and a bunch of lenses.

First evening into Reykjavik. Taking a stroll along the boardwalk. Face to face with the "Sun Voyager". A sculpture of a Viking ship.
Went with a moody black and white due to the lack of color under the overcast skies.

My first edit from this weekends trip to Roan Mountain...been working on this one off and on all afternoon/evening to get it right...manually blended two frames.

Beautiful image Travis! Really like the light in the foreground.

---------------

Spent my evening editing these from a recent architecture photoshoot for a client. Six done and 34 to go.

These are from a building in town called the North Alamo Building which recently completed a major renovation.

Thanks, I know how that editing goes...last night I finished up the edits on a set of 55 from California...1 project down, 3 to go!

I really like the first one, the warmth on the windows to the coolness on the left, interesting juxtaposition. That last one is cool too! Is that the finished space that way?

I'm done with my paid RE job. A lot of improvements needed. Aside from the shots and edit, the speed in shooting. I was too slow.

what lens were you using for most of these?

A couple of the exterior images are rotated, and the verticals are off.

How long did it take to shoot and then edit it all...won't ask what you got paid, but in your head does it work out to a good hourly rate?

i know it's all distorted. my 15mm laowa is a bad idea. The agent is happy though. I will replace it with a 16-35F4 if i'll continue to do it so I can shoot around 18mm up. and if i like some details shots like i did with the kitchen, i can zoom to 35mm. i used my 35mm F1.4 for those.

I don't think it's worth it until you get to the point like other RE photogs who can go in and out of a house in an hour. that way they can shoot more houses. Chinese model of business, less for more.

ah, the 15, yeah, that is really wide, and it stretched some of the furniture. I know you are in the RE group on FB, I have learned a lot from that group, but some of them still use UWA and I always wonder why, it looks so stretched. Camera height is also a big factor, too low and at the wrong angles to things really distorts elements in the room.

Yes, traditional RE isn't going to pay the bills unless you can shoot a bunch in a day and then turn them over quickly...I had a conversation with a guy last weekend, that on a $2M house, gets paid about $650 in his area, since photogs are scarce...here in ATL I bet it would be hard to get $250 for that...which just doesn't justify the effort for me...

Thank you Travis! Yes that's the finished space. I think it looks great. The 2nd and 3rd floors are offices and some of them have beautiful exposed brick. The 4th floor is where the building owner will have his residence and there are 2 apartments there too. Very cool building with lots of history. I am working with a company that has their offices there to hopefully sell some of my prints to hang in the offices.

Nice. I like that look, I don't think it is done enough...I just designed in a feature wall to my current project to have a big open stair have an exposed brick wall on the interior...

Very cool about maybe getting some prints in an office space...I hope that works out...

I just had someone contact me last night about getting some prints done, they wanted 3 20x30...total project budget...100 bucks...smdh...needless to say I passed on the project.

I agree, i might end up focusing on one thing only, the lifestyle family portrait. I'll see how it goes.

$100? Yeah no thanks! I'm trying to convince them to buy large acrylic prints. 40" x 22" for example. We shall see.

That feature wall sounds very cool. I love that look too.
