I agree, i might end up focusing on one thing only, the lifestyle family portrait. I'll see how it goes.

Vinz, RE work is tough going. That's why I like to stick to architcture. The payout is higher because you're often working for firms that have larger budgets. I need to improve my estimates that I submit. I need to track how many hours I spend on a project and reflect that into future estimates. It's a fine balance because you don't want to go too high.

ah, the 15, yeah, that is really wide, and it stretched some of the furniture. I know you are in the RE group on FB, I have learned a lot from that group, but some of them still use UWA and I always wonder why, it looks so stretched. Camera height is also a big factor, too low and at the wrong angles to things really distorts elements in the room.

Yes, traditional RE isn't going to pay the bills unless you can shoot a bunch in a day and then turn them over quickly...I had a conversation with a guy last weekend, that on a $2M house, gets paid about $650 in his area, since photogs are scarce...here in ATL I bet it would be hard to get $250 for that...which just doesn't justify the effort for me...

I hate newcomers on the RE ads that think a uwa should be shot wide.

18-21mm for me is perfect for RE

I believe so Vinz. Just make sure to have a contract in place for each paid job to cover yourself.

It depends...mostly on who hired you.

If the developer hired you, they want a different type of images than the builder would, or the architect.

I just found out today how much the photog got paid on the last hotel I did...and after seeing the images...makes me that much more motivated to continue following that path...

Nice. First shot has loads of drama...not loving the halos though.

I’d clone out that detached light ray in the last one. Content aware fill would quickly and convincingly take it out.

if you are referring only to currency then sure, but if you are trying to make reference to who cares what client type you are shooting for, if they pay they pay, well then I respectfully disagree...you should know your client and their expectations...if your client is the architect, they might only want a couple images of the rooms of a hotel...and lots of the public space and architectural details, the design...if you deliver 5 views of every room, they will be disappointed...and be unlikely to pay or refer you...it also tells you what to shoot...what to spend your time on...don't waste time on images that the client won't want...

I shot for the landscape architect last year, and shot way more images, a bunch of wide angle, a bunch of TSE images...he didn't like any of those, he wanted 1 or 2 wide angles of a space and then tighter comps...so I spent a lot of time shooting, more time culling and then ignored a lot...this year, I shot more the style he wanted, and he got better images from it...and I better used my time.

Better use of time = better profit margins.

Love the place, want to go there. As David mentioned, there is a distinct halo in the sky, but also the darkened edges of the hoodoo, probably easy to fix with Lumenzia or luminosity masking...which leads me to...the brightness of the dark side of the formations doesn't have the drama of the light working for it...because it is so defined and lit, it feels like a composite rather than an image with good dynamic range.
