Following on from last years exploits, we decided to slow things down a little this year. The riders had different ideas though, and managed to push the overall lap record to over 135mph which is some feat considering a lap of the TT course is 37 miles of country roads, including narrow streets of several towns and villages and a mountain road along the way. This is an average speed over 37 miles and there are times the riders are reaching around 190mph.
Our enjoyment of an otherwise excellent weeks racing was severely dampened following the deaths of 2 riders, including well known Isle of Man racer, Dan Kneen and Scottish youngser Adam Lyon. Its an unforgiving and extremely dangerous sport, which tests man and machine to the absolute limits and often beyond. Theres little room for error as a stone wall or tree often awaits anyone who loses control and the speeds these guys and girls are hitting are significant.
