yah. that's the main purpose of ETTR. If you brighten up images in any raw editing software, it will only reveal more noise. if you reduce exposure in post, it will hide the noise. so the trick is, never underexpose. even if you have to use the ISO.

I do quite the opposite, I tend to expose more for the highlights in an image, and lift shadows, they seem much more tolerant and recoverable for me than highlights... Website
