Prototyping and actual production are two very different things. Cmon' man this is so 2012 now.

Tamron released the first 24-70 2.8 VC model back in 2/2012. Here it is 6 years later and canon still sitting on their ass. Even 3 years ago Nikon released their VR version.

Goodbye Canon.

yeah they do. They are just waiting for a reason to introduce it. Everyone loves the V2 and its still selling like hotcakes so why bother

Sensor development really put a nail in that coffin

what can you not do with a 1/125 shutter speed and this new sensor than ypu could do better with an IS lens. Whats the advantage now. Shutter at 1/30 for hand hold You gain maybe a stop for real world use

Iso Bump solves the issue 100% of the time now

who am I kidding? I just pre-ordered the f4 II . hey the tripod ring looks identical except for the color -- they are both AII. does anyone know for sure?

I will be interested to hear your comparison with the original f/4 IS. I've owned that lens for over 10 years now, and it still works great for my use.

It’s ok though... I can shoot stabilized with any lens now

Just when I am ready to get a 70-200 2.8 then they have to torture me with the decision to wait and spend 17% more for the III version or to get the current (really good VII lens) right away. What would you do?

If you’re planning to buy new and you intend to keep it for a while, get the III. That way you won’t continuously second guess your decision when you see the incredible images people post from it.

I would get the III. but I look at the lens as a something i'll use for the next 5-10 years.

Oh dang - it has began - the prices for the 2.8II are dropping. I set the threshold to 25% price difference and that's now exceeded. I. Can. Not. Resist.

And I did not resist and got the 2.8II - but holey moley this thing is great! I can not think of anything relevant for me that would justify the higher price of the III. Very happy.
