Hello! I own the Panasonic LX 100 and looking for a filter to protect the lens. I have been discouraged from buying the Tiffen 43 UVP because of what people say is cheap quality. Opinions?

What do you want to protect the lens from - just damage when carrying around? Working in unusually sandy or wet conditions or...?

If I had an LX100 I'd probably buy the accessory "auto lens cap" but that's all.

There has been a lot of discussion on POTN about the routine use of UV filters to protect lenses, and most agree it's not worth it. ANY extra glass in front of the lens is liable to affect images, plus if you drop the camera and the thin filter glass breaks it can scratch the lens - it happened to me way back, so no UV filters for me since then.

I’m beginning to see your point. The only filter I’m considering now is a circular polarizer. I’ll forgo the clear filter. Do you use polarizers?
