[...] Really fast service, and best part is that it was a complimentary repair. Not sure what I did to get on their good side, but this could have been a hugely expensive repair, and I'm thankful for the pro-bono work. When it comes time for fixing your gear, this level of customer service really makes you appreciate Canon and how they operate. [...]

I heard they've been doing that lately. Probably facing some real though competition and they want to keep their customers.

Playing around with the golden hour light after work Friday, my backyard produces some nice bokeh with the trees.

I'm just getting into milky way photography and am enjoying it. Lots to learn yet about technique and processing, but so many helpful tutorials on YouTube. This is the Milky Way over Cape St Mary's in Nova Scotia. I'm about 100 ft up overlooking the crashing surf. For this image, I stacked 12 images for the sky using free software, Sequator, at 25 sec, ISO 6400, f2.8. That would leave the water and cliffs dark, so that is a 5 minute exposure at ISO 3200. I then merged the two images in Photoshop. This is my first image using this technique, but I can already see why it's so effective.

Beautiful image! I’m thinking about trying this type of photography... what lens did you use please? And what was the learning curve like for the software?

I used a Rokinon 14mm 2.8. Its a manual focus lens, but great at astro work and inexpensive. The software was pretty straightforward. Less that 30 minutes.
