I finally pulled the trigger and bought this camera about a month ago. I absolutely love it. I got out and shot about 100 photos with it of some birds to practice on and then we headed to Yellowstone 3 days later. I got some really good stuff out there of grizzlies and lots of other stuff. I have been going through all the photos now for the last two weeks. I was sitting here editing some more photos and I noticed the photo numbers and something didn't seem right. I went back and checked out the first photo I took and it started out at 8247. Shouldn't it have started out at number 1. I installed the latest firmware before shooting any pics. I did not buy a refurbished camera. I purchased it from B&H.

I really like Canon DPP rename tool. Very simple and easy to use.
I change the file prefix every 10,000 shots. I'm not too anal about it, if it's at 9600 I'll change before 10,000.
At the same time I don't worry if it rolls over knowing DPP will let me rename fast. There are plenty of filename rename tools but a lot of them have quirks and take a bit of experimenting to get the result you want.

For this bird portrait, I accidentally underexposed because I forgot to change ISO settings... shot at ISO 800, when 3200 would have been the right exposure. So, I lightened in post by 2.5 stops, and the file handled it beautifully.

This was taken less than 24hrs ago.. I was shooting a video for a project and couldn't help but switch to "stills" for a few pics as some I associate with want to know the water vis on the bottom of Lake Michigan. This is the shipwreck "Thomas Hume" which sank in 1890. A fantastic shipwreck in incredible conditions...probably have 30+ dives on her and still find it as amazing as the first time I dived on her. Reviewing the 4K footage from the MkIV and I am very impressed with it...This image is as I just finish my descent and am beginning to get my video lights positioned for the video I need to shoot. I am diving this by myself so as not to get other divers in the shot. For the divers in the group...I spend 60min at 145' and have a 60min deco (AKA if you're gonna play...you are going to PAY). I am on my rebreather to do this dive/video shoot.

Finally had a chance to shoot a semi clean swell, the morning started off pretty well groomed and the winds started shifting around as the sun came over the horizon which made for some interesting shapes in the morning light. Now I'm torn, I really want another port to shoot in the water with but I can't decide if I go wide or longer than 50mm.

I personally like how these give me the feeling that I’m in the water .... immersive? ;-)a.
Wider would take away from that I think.

This would be a great image for an article "will ocean levels rise?" :)

Just taken the plunge and bought myself a 5D Mk IV to complement my 80D. I love my 80D but wanted to go full-frame as well, Here is a first effort with the 5D Mk IV.
