I have recently started using Lightroom 6 again because DxO PhotoLab does not currently support the new Canon EOS M50 camera I purchased -- neither does LR6, but I can convert the CR3 RAW files to DNG using Adobe's free app and then import those into LR6 (PhotoLab still doesn't like the converted DNG files, since it actually has to support the camera body itself). I had been away from Lightroom for several months, and couldn't figure out why I couldn't see the folder with the DNG files. I forgot I had to import them! So that was my brain-dead moment for the month (hopefully).

Its frustrating when you're forced to switch software like that. I enjoy using PhotoLab so much after years of being a Lightroom user that I would find it difficult to go back. I think if DXO was no longer an option I would strongly consider using Capture One which I played with for a month.

Actually I was looking for a way to copy LR presets to PS and forgot about this as I don't often use it. After editing in ACR if you open it as a smart object you can always back into ACR by double clicking it. You probably new that but just in case.

Just re-reading this LR 7.3 changed presets from lrtemplates to amp files and now the same presets are available in both PS and LR.

Although PL were impressive it is still LR for me.

I actually purchased DXO PL for Prime. I send select images from LR to PL and back. It will be a good backup if i ever decide to drop the Adobe Plan.

So PS, LR, DXO PL, Canon's DPP, Photomatix Pro and Power Retouche fir B&W work.

I use Photoshop CS5 with the MetaRaw plugin so all my cameras still work.

I'll add Gimp to the list. Gimp has come a long way and has become user friendly enough that I'm OK with letting Photoshop go.

I've set up my own collection of tools I like:

- DPP for raw conversion and basic edits
- PhotoLine for standard pixel editing, layering and plugin hosting
- Nik Color Efex for local work using U-point
- Topaz Clarity (for the obvious)
- Focal Blade for sharpening
- Wire Worm for cloning
- Noiseware for noise reduction
- DxO Optics Pro 9 for their CA correction
- Portrait Pro for portrait editing
- Qimage for printing

I have to save the image to .tiff and switch between applications, but I don't mind as long as I can use the tools I prefer.
Of course, my volume is small.

I am hoping DxO updates PhotoLab soon to include the Canon M50 -- their recent update included 7 new camera bodies, but not this one. I am still using PhotoLab for processing my Canon 5D3 and 7D2 files, and it would be nice to be able to use the same tool and workflow for everything again.

Capture One Pro for the vast majority of my work.

Old Photoshop for more detailed edits.

Moving to Affinity Photo and dropping Photoshop hopefully soon.

They appear to be slow when adding new cameras, and the bankruptcy reorg thing may not be fully resolved yet. Hopefully when it is they will be more focused.

But they have mentioned Affinity Photo:

Affinity Photo is quite nice once you figure out where things are, maturing nicely.

PS CS6, and Affinity Photo. All my plugings worth both ways. (Win64) Im pretty happy with Affinity even if it is not as fast, I like the interface and features "better" than CS6. Yet there are a few things in CS6 I like better.

If I only could use 1, Id use Affinity.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

I'm sure there are many here who use it. I tried it though and wasn't impressed.

Could you expand on that?

Just wasn't worth the change?

Or was there actually something 'wrong' with it?
