Everyone raves about how sharp that lens is and I live how light and compact it is. This 50 1.4 looks to be a heavy beast and I can’t tell much of a difference in the rendering between the two lenses. What am I missing? Thanks!

A little more chromatic aberration with the 55, but it's a bit sharper than the 50 generally (factoring in sample variation). For me the 50 just looked more aesthetically pleasing with the rendering (I think the 55 is a bit too sharp/clinical), and I preferred a 1.4 lens. Thought about picking up a 55 if I could find one used for a decent price for when I want to travel light because this 50 is about the size of a 24-70/2.8 lol
