I was there in April!

I was there in November. When I went to that spot to take my shot, my wife grabbed me around my neck, yanked me back and asked me if I was crazy. I haven't answered her yet.

That is great!

I spent two hours perched right at the edge with my camera on short mini- tripod to get the sun setting behind the scene. It was worth it. I actually had to squeeze in between a bunch of other people including lots of tripods to get a clear shot. It was unbelievable how many people were there. My wife who is usually afraid of nothing, wouldn't go anywhere near the edge. It was a real role reversal for us. She told me later there were TWO weddings going on simultaneously at the cliff's edge at sundown. I didn't notice as I was honed in on getting the shot.

The guy next to me (he let me squeeze in next to him) was smart. He was a NY studio pro. He had his camera on a tripod right at the edge of the dropoff but he was behind it a foot or two controlling it with his iPad. HE told me that way he didn't have to be right at the edge! He had a 5DIV like mine and showed me while we were waiting for the sunset how to set it up for that remote control. I tried it when I got home and it worked. He said he shoots that way in the studio all the time, touching the area for focus point just like on the screen in live view but on the iPad instead. I learned something really cool while waiting for that shot!

There are some fearless people in this world. There was a group of young Asian women there that were sitting feet dangling over a ledge. Made my stomach roll. I'm old enough to know things can end quickly, without warning.

I took my shot on 5Dlll on tripod with Camranger and ipad. 3 shot Pano with 3 exposures each. Love the iPad for composing and previewing these kind of thngs...

I saw a post by another forum member KCMike I believe that was there 3 days before I was!
It certainly is a beautiful spot. Was hoping to get a sunset shot, but we were there in the afternoon after we had toured Antelope Canyon and lunched in Page. Didn't want to wait around that long an then drive back to Flagstaff. I perched my tripod right up to the edge and got several bracketed shots for HDR that turned out quite nice. My two daughters climbed up to the top of the big hill off to the right. I was not about to hike up there! It was fairly crowded, but had no problem getting to the ridge to get plenty of pictures. What a great trip!
