Our animals are cute and fluffy... but have bad attitudes...

So far, I've found that Emus are the least likely to take a piece of you... even though they do look like they would.

You'd be hard pressed to find a wild koala nowadays... and the most obvious place to find wild kangaroos and wallabies is as roadkill on our highways... *sigh*

I was at a friend's place the other day clearing some junk, and I found a little native hopping mouse... all of about an inch long in the body... we moved him to somewhere safe (no camera unfortunately)... we also found a bluetongue lizard under some tin roofing, and we moved him up to the house yard so he'd be safe too. Luckily the weather is a bit colder at the moment, and we didn't come across any deadly snakes (red-bellied black and brown snakes are in the area - and both will kill you).

The general rule here is no matter how cute or beautiful they are, just don't try to touch them, and you'll be mostly fine... hehe!

I have a number of places I'm welcome to go and get up close and personal with tamer versions of our native wildlife... and would happily take you to those places if you ever got to Sydney Jeff... I can see you cuddling a full grown emu... hahaha! And definitely would have to take you to the fox rescue place to get some hands on fox loving... they have dingoes there too...

T.

Cute and fluffy ....lol the weather here is sticking hot mid 35c they say feels like 42c. humidity around 80% well if I get over there one day I'll be expecting cute and fluffy hehe

Sounds perfect, just like Darwin in December! Now I know when to visit Canada. :)

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

Aim for Spring or Autumn here... Summer will kill you... multiple days of over 40C in a row is a common occurrence... not fun!

Winter here is pretty mild compared to what you are used to, but I'm not a fan and like to sleep in when it gets below 10C... was 3C this morning... and foggy... brrr!

More like Darwin in winter... I need to leave Sydney in both Sumer and Winter... better temps in Darwin for both (we actually have more scorching hot days here than Darwin in Summer)

Lived in Alice Springs as a little kid... damn winter is COLD in the desert!

LOL Darwin doesn't have winter. That's why I love it. I grew up in Sydney. Way too cold for me. So's Alice. Lived at Uluru for 8 years. Freezing in winter.

I can't even imagine what it must be like. I'd definitely need lessons in dressing for it.

Sydney in Summer is now hotter than Darwin in Summer... that's messed up! I suppose the upside is that we rarely get cyclones though... lol!

Mind you... there was one day last Summer when Hobart was hotter than Darwin... now, that is truly messed up!

Back at ya for Jan/Feb here... way too hot... the cute cuddlies are hiding in the shade and sleeping - or they are mighty ticked off at you for waking them... errr! And the one thing you don't want is a ticked off Aussie marsupial... *grin*

Yes, that was in the middle of our more than a metre of rain in two weeks. But actually, of all Australian capital cities, Darwin has the lowest highest-recorded temperature.
