These are all really nice images. It's amazing how humongous those big male brown bears are. I know I wouldn't want to argue with one of them.

what causes 20+bears to be visible at one time? are they baited?

If you are referring to this https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=18646251, the answer is yes. In that location they use salmon guts and spines they get from a local foodstore.

Grizz...that's one heck of a grizz. Seriously Craig, that shot is an absolutely over the top photo!! The massiveness of that animal is amazing.

I would rather deal with big giant bears all day long than sub adults. You don't get to be a big bear by messing around with people. The bigger they are they better they know the deal. Those young bears like to test limits and try to see what they can get away with.

A few days ago on the Katmai Coast. It was a super hot day and the bears were doing all that they could to keep cool. One of the mom's with little cubs brought them all the way out into the meadow so we could get a good look at them.

Thanks! It was a great trip. We went with Gary from Bald Mountain Air Service. Hopefully going to get back there next year.

Please feel free to offer any suggestions for improving my pics. I'm looking to improve my skill at both capturing and processing.

Very nice, I enjoy both of your bear shots. The close-up is really cool.
