A very nice Oenanthe oenanthe (not Fringilla coelebs). You did well to get so close!

Your world wide bird ID skills and knowledge amaze me almost every time you comment.
Most of us are localized (or have one or two regions we have insights on, but you take the prize for sure !

Thanks Robert. I need to play with the settings I used on this one. I had to pull it from darkness believe it or not. I'm surprised it "polished" so well.

I have inside knowledge on this hawk. I've seen the parents driving him away and I'm pretty sure they are RTHs. This young one was image in a walnut tree in the front yard and I've never seen one perch like this. It was almost 90F so maybe a pose to cool off?

He loves his tree ;-)a

Nice shot. I think you are correct about cooling off.

This bird is a tree huger. I believe it to be a juvenile red-tailed hawk.

Great shot of the little turds. I'm sure they are keeping their parents quite busy, probably wearing them out.

That's an extremely kind comment, Greg, but I really don't deserve it. I've long had a passion for US/Canadian birds because they're so much prettier and more interesting than UK ones. I've been to a few other places too, but there are many, many countries of whose birds I know absolutely nothing - the Caribbean and South America especially.
