Hahaha. Hey, I'm probably in your age bracket but I don't have a beard :p
Can't post a picture of myself in this thread because I don't have a Sony camera but am thinking about getting just a little one for my big upcoming trip to Europe and Morocco next year. Thinking of getting the Sony A6500 or maybe I will splurge and get the 7r3. Don't know yet.
You can see some pics of me on my FB page which is included in my signature. I'm 66 :) So, who is older? :)
Inside I feel like a stupid teenager at times!

For my fun setup I really appreciate the IQ the E mount Sigma 24mm ART produces with my A7iii.

I will admit it's not a perfect lens but for my intended purposes and casual nature of this lens......I actually dig it!!

I'll use my 5dmk4 with 24Lmk2 for much faster AF and confident AF.

I guess I'm in trouble, my image I bet was with an Olympus--Poof uses the Oly most often. I'm afraid to look or I'll
be in trouble with the thread police.
Yeah, I'm a touch younger; just put up hard too many times.

And the scary part is I think I'm even older than MM.

EDIT: I posted too early. I'm a LOT older than MM. I'm 73 but remember, it's not the years...it's the mileage.

I viewed the first page of your first architectural firm, Gensler and noticed that most photographs of tall building were taken from a higher than ground level point of view. That would be to help mitigate the vertical distortions I presume.

As an aside, my construction background dealt with viewing detail drawings showing plan and profile views rather than artistic architectural views too.

Yes! You're absolutely correct that a higher vantage point can really address the problem. Unfortunately architecture can be an especially challenging subject. With people portraits you can have them move to a place that's more conducive to a more flattering lens. But buildings are big fixed subjects that usually have nearby obstructions (necessitating the use of a wide-angle lens) and you may or may not have access to a higher vantage point. If a higher view is possible, or if you can get back farther and shoot with a longer lens, then you really got it made. But too often you have space limitations to shoot in that you have to resort even to a TS-E 17mm lens (pretty extreme at that point).

What you typically won't see, with the exception of aerial/top-down type photos, is any images of buildings where the verticals aren't parallel. It can put the archtectural photographer between a rock (sometimes a literal rock!) and a hard place (industry standard requiring perfect parallel verticals).

This issue really just comes down to the annoyances of extreme wide-angle lenses with relatively close subjects. Whether it's a weird large looking nose on someone's face, or the stretched look at the bleeding edge of extreme wide-angle images (that is exactly what is happening when shifting a tilt-shift at the extremes.

Here is a rendering example from KPF that is eye-level with parallel verticals that has a similar optical illusion: https://www.kpf.com/projects/robinson-tower (external link) When sitting near my monitor the verticals appear to flare outward at the top, but when I step away from my monitor they look more settled.
