I love the old Beemers. My first was a 1982 320I, my second was a 1984 325E. I loved the 325E!!! Straight six, 5 speed stick, sun roof, and it was wide open under the hood. I could sit on the fender with my feet inside and work on the engine. It wasn't long after I got rid of it before I regretted it.
This is a huge event every year in the city of Pittsburgh. The entire thing last 2 weeks. On the 2nd Sunday, the final day, right before the official races begin, there is a parade featuring the Marquee car of the year.
So, the parade is along the actual race "track" (track is in quotes here because it is actually on public streets). The "track" is approximately 3.2 miles long. The cars in the parade are told to stay 2 car lengths from each other. There were so many BMWs in the parade that they stretched the entire 3.2 mile track. You were asked to pre-register for the parade but you could also just show up on Sunday and register then. As of Saturday afternoon, there were 582 pre-registered BMWs for the parade.
My favourite after the 2002.
That was awesome machine, and it hummed, literally. Such a sweet, powerful engine.
Kids still remind me. 'you'd get past that sign dad and....'. Must have put the foot down!
Sounds an awesome event.
