First shot is from a car show I went to back in 2014, had just got my nifty fifty and was shooting everything. I eventually learned that shorter focal lengths aren'f for me and I then began my journey for more reach. The Second is from the Saint Louis Zoo, it's a Blue-and-yellow macaw named Bubba and this is the only time I had seen him out on display in my many years of visiting. The EF-S 55-250mm was my first telephoto lens and for the price took decent shots but for wildlife photography it's rather short.

Nice shots! I find the 55-250 to be a perfect focal length range on a crop body for zoos, given typical zoo viewing distances of around 30 feet or so.

Beautiful pictures, Bhalaje. Is that a wedding? The colors in the women's dresses are gorgeous!
What camera and lens did you use (since this is the "cheap lens" forum)? I don't see it in the posting.

OK, here's my latest contribution to this thread. This is the 100-inch Hooker Telescope on Mount Wilson, just outside of Los Angeles, CA. I love the construction of this! There's nothing subtle about it. To me, it looks more like a machine than a scientific instrument!

This was the largest optical telescope in the world from 1917 until the 200-inch telescope on Mount Palomar began operation in 1948. It's named for the industrialist who helped fund its construction. This telescope was used by Edwin Hubble (after whom the Hubble Space Telescope is named) to discover that the "spiral nebulae" visible in earlier instruments are, in fact, other galaxies like our Milky Way, composed of billions of individual stars. It was also here that he made distance and velocity measurements on distant galaxies, which led to the discovery that the universe is expanding. That's the foundation of modern cosmology.

Canon 7D Mark II with Canon EF-S 10-18mm STM lens.

Nice shot of a really beautiful device. It's been years since I visited but I still remember Mt. Wilson.
