For those of you with playapps

Would Smooth Reflections work with lighting storms?

i.e. let it run for 30-50 frames during good lighting

Im thinking it could give a cool cloud and lightening effect

Eriet I WISH I knew. A good lightening photo is missing in my quiver.
We get it here but it is rare. In fact (knock on wood) I've never experience
any lightening induced shock to any electronic here in the house.

Me, I'd use the timelapse app, with settings for lightening, and let it click off
shot after shot. I can't remember the settings, daytime lightening different than
night time of course, but 10-15 sec exp? F8? Focus to infinity manually? Iso
lowish. Just thinking out loud.

I wouldn't even risk it, intervalometer all the way.

Vinz, to throw in some more confusion, I've been testing out a VIDEO head + leveling base as a replacement for a ballhead. Downside is that even the smallest video head is much bigger than my current ballhead.

That said, the leveling base means that you get fairly level shots quick, and only having the ability too pan and tilt means that you stay level at least the horizontals. Vertical is super simple in practice, just pan to an edge somewhere and line up to a grid line. I'm trying to figure out if I even need a ballhead at this point. Keep in mind, that this fluid head is one of the smaller ones on the market, they are generally much bigger and dont use arca swill. I had to put an inexpensive clamp on top, and due to the screw mechanism, it's very tight.

the arca p0 is a wonderful ballhead btw, but if a video head gets the job done for me for video and photography, I'm seeing a tough reason to go back to the ball heads.... it even packs up well, so it doesnt take a whole lot more space.

last bonus is that quality video heads are fairly inexpensive.....

from testing with the AD200 tonight in the rapid box, I can't use the bare bulb head, it hits the center spoke hub on the inside...so a Bowens mount and Glow Parapop will be on the way shortly...the 24" is ok for tight spaces, but the light is still a bit harsh and harder to diffuse.

This was -3 EC and full power on the AD200. But it fits with the look I need for two of my shoots this weekend...

OK, I'm not sure if this is the right place for my question but I will ask it anyway: next year I'm planning another big trip to Europe and Morocco. I don't want to drag my heavy Canon gear and was thinking of getting just this awesome little Sony a6500 with possibly one lens and that's it. I would consider 2 lenses, possibly primes.

My interests are: landscape, street photography, candid shots of people and some close ups and macros but I could live without the last 2.
Since I'm going to spend a week in the desert, the lens(es) have to be weatherproof. I would prefer an f2.8 lens or faster because I'm not willing to take a tripod with me. The idea is to be there in the moment and take it in rather than concentrating on perfect shots. Cell phone shots are not an option, though my Google Pixel XL has one of the best cameras.

Some folks suggested a Sigma lens f1.4 I forget what FL it was. If shooting landscape, I'm willing to take several shots and stitch them, so an extreme wide angle lens for this little crop beast is not mandatory.
Anyway, I would appreciate any input from you, guys.

BTW, I'm not spending money on the MKIII just for that trip :-)

Thank you.

There's probably some easy thing I'm missing but I'll ask anyway.

If I'm in AF-S with flexible spot, how do I zoom in to 5x and 10x it I'm in manual focus? I know DMF mode does this but it won't let me enter this mode with the MC-11.

I map center button to focus magnifier

I don't really like this configuration but it works.

when you are in MF...and adjust focus, does it not zoom in as soon as you start to adjust focus?

My Bombo ebay find came in.

I got the Lazer filter holder and ......... the 12mm ring. Which is just a hair small for the CV 10mm.

So I will probably FM or Ebay the CV 12mm ring. If someone here wants it send me an offer.

try an adjustment brush in LR that you work the skin tones and reduce the greens in just the skin...green trees tend to do that...my last family session I did, we were back in the woods, and the green cast required more work than anything else.

Haha! I did do some specific work with brushes in LR. This was as good as I could get. The green cast was brutal!
