I like them both, although if pressed I do prefer the butterfly. Like the DOF in it and the contrasting colours.

The Ostrich just looks like he/she is thinking - What are you looking at?

Very nice. I like the butterfly as well (of course I'm a little biased since that's what I spent yesterday shooting). I do love the reflections of eyelashes in the ostrich's eye. Very well captured.

Thank you all for the comments, I too like the butterfly. The contrast between the beauty of one verses the ugly of the other was interesting to me. At least late last night.

I think the butterfly one is great. May I suggest cropping off everything to the right of the butterfly (for a more square photo) and playing with the levels/curves a little to give the colors some more pop? Beautiful shot.
