If you bought a Peak Design anchor (the little fastener plastic thinggies) after Aug 2017 and before June 2018 then you might be interested in this:

They have a survey to help you through the entire process:

I did not realize that they were replacing the V1 anchors as well. I was still using V1 anchors on all my straps/cameras and I still had some brand new never used V1 anchors laying around as well. Guess its time to replace them with all the V2 anchors I have (again brand new) and wait for the new V4 anchors.

But after I took the survey I still found a couple more V1 anchors laying around.....Still the fact that they are replacing the V1 anchors at all is amazing to me. I figured it would just be the V3 that they would replace (which I did have 2)

There was nothing really wrong with the v1 except for the fact that they fray easily. V2 is the same as v1 but with a wax type coating on the cord to protect the cord and minimize on the fraying. V3 has a new puck design to make it easier to insert and remove and has a thinner cord for those cameras with smaller eyelets. The issue with the v3, was that it wore out quicker than PD expected and wasn't up to their standards.

All cords have color markers (yellow, red) to let you know. I wouldn't really call it a recall but more of as a advisory. V4 is a marriage of v2's thicker cord and v3's new puck design.

So if you have v1, v2 and even v3, you can still use them. You just need to be vigilant to replace them if you see the color coding cord.

The V1 don’t have the color warning threads and if I remember correctly they are made out of a different material then the V1’s which were Kevlar. I can’t remember what they changed it to but I remember them talking about that change in material when they released the V2 Anchor links. EDIT: Found it. They went from Kevlar on the V1 to Dyneema on the V2.

Like I said, I’ve been using the V1 anchors for years so I was suprised that they are replacing those along with the V3 (the survey asks how many V1 and V3 anchor links you have). In fact in the video they say if you’re using V1 then to stop using them and that they are replacing them. If a manufacturer is telling me to not use their product then I’ll listen to them......but I did have plenty of V2 anchor links sitting around to replace all my V1’s. Once I get the V4’s they will go into storage until I run out of V2’s (which should be quite a while)

Just another reason to love PD.

Thats one thing I like about PD. They are transparent unlike other companies. Even if there is nothing majorly wrong but isn't up to their standards, they'll replace them.

Thanks, just literally bought the hand strap and it has the V3 anchors. No wear noticed yet, but haven't had them but 2 weeks.

Has anyone received their new anchor links?

It’s been over a month and I have not received them or heard anything from PD.

EDIT: just saw that they updated the page and said that they got more response then they expected so are making more “update kits”. So hopefully soon.

I received this e-mail:

We wanted to let you know that your order was shipped via USPS, USPS First Class Mail Intl on 7/12/2018.

Shipments generally take 2-5 business days to arrive at your doorstep if you are in the US of A and 6-10 business days if you live elsewhere.

This shipment includes the following items:

Item # Description Qty
AN-UP-4 Anchor Update Kit (4 pack) 1

We strive to provide tracking information for each and every one of our orders, but in some cases, we are unable to do that. If your order does not contain a tracking link, that means that we do not have the ability to track it. We are, however, committed to providing you the fastest and most reliable service possible. Thanks for your support!

The tracking info shows that it is still in transit and it should arrive soon. I'll let you know, once it actually arrives.

Looks like you received the Triangular style split rings.

My replacement packs had Oval shaped split rings and they are too thick a gauge for my Canon EOS M6 so I used some slimmer Stainless Steel split rings from a hardware store.

The Oval split rings will just about fit into the metal lugs on the camera body, but they jam up and will not move freely within the lugs.

Cheers

Dennis

The first batch indeed had triangles, the second one I received were oval shaped.
