I've been attempting to capture hummingbirds to no avail. Blurry, out of focus, too dark - you name it. No keepers.
Using high shutter speed 800-1000, f 5.6 and Auto ISO. Any suggestions from you experienced birders?
thanks
Irene

The short speedlight bursts stop the motion of the wings. Usually a feeder is used to attract the birds, with convenient perches just out of sight of the feeders located at strategic locations. Some also use fake backgrounds. Canon R5 and R7, assorted Canon lenses, Sony RX100, Pentax Spotmatic F

DocRoger Senior Member More info | Jul 31, 2018 22:03 | #618 The PDAF on the Sony has helped me with BIF captures that I never thought I could get. Tracked this Caspian Tern the other day after it had dove down into the water for a fish. It came back up, did a 180 while spraying out water. Only wish I could have been a little closer so I didn't have to crop as much

I don't think I will go to that extent Archibald however will continue with other birds that are not so swift. I've much to learn on this new camera.
