Nice one Sibil. You and I both seem to enjoy photographing mockingbirds. For one thing, they are fairly common in the neighborhood, and I think they are really neat birds. I admire their fearlessness, and their ability to put on some cool flying exhibitions.

The proverbial early bird.

I forgot to change my settings, hence the small aperture...and slow shutter speed.

A beauty

Thanks, Mike. I am not particular to any bird. I'll try to photograph whatever bird shows up in front of my lens. For me, it's more about being out there in the early hours and enjoying the nature, and bird / flower / squirrel, whatever, doesn't matter to me. I am probably the most casual bird photographer amongst many of you.

I know what's usually out in the locations we frequent but I'm seldom hunting one species... whatever is close enough for me to capture with the equipment I have is fine with me. The only exception is during the Spring rookery season. I have a few species I just love: breeding colors can be quite spectacular.

Being outdoors is a source of "inner peace" for me, or whatever term someone prefers.
