It sounds like you did a ton of hunting back in the day. You were obviously a fanatic hunter, like I was. One day after this past season closed, the dog in the photo (Annie) died and now I have one dog (Moxie) left. She is about to turn 3 years old, so I'll be able to hunt as long as she is with me. I've put a lot of training in on her, and she is quite a capable hunter. My dogs have always been my best hunting pals. :-)

I bred "best Pal's" for guys like you two. Thus the name Pondrader.. See that big chocolate in that boat !!! brings back big memory's..

I love their eyes, so vibrant
Many of these birds have that attribute - legs, eyes, beak - often colourful and vibrant.
Beautiful. Thanks

Clipper those CB geese are fascinating to sit amongst and have them waddle about. They are big!

They are interesting to watch but pretty quiet. On the other hand want to hear them when they honk flying past in that big fat frame of theirs :) They are that lazy on land when I first started to see them a few years ago ( Im originally from South Australia and the majority of these birds are found in Victoria) I didn't think they could fly . Especially as they are so fat and unaerodynamic looking and spend most of their time lazing on the ground . But they certainly fly alright . And God help a commercial airliner should they experience a bird strike from this lot !.. Although that would be pretty remote though given there arnt huge flocks of these things and most of their time is spent on land well away from any airline flight paths :).

Brings back memories for me too. I remember when it was me and my buddies in that boat coming in from the morning hunt. Wow! Where did the time go?

I know... I raised my two boys out there. still wearing diapers... pockets full of 12 gauge shells. Wish I had a DSLR back then but they weren't invented then lol :p

I think I made the best of those days. And passed on something to them most kids today don't understand. Care and control of everything in your life.. and a huge understanding of life and death. hopefully their better for it.

I had no idea. So, did you breed labs? And were you a trainer too? With the exception of a golden retriever, my dogs have always been labs (black). All were good hunters, from field trial and hunt test lines, but most importantly they were great pals and family dogs.
