OK...got my shot...doing my best Gene impersonation...setting up lights and stuff in my little office. Gene and his photo of his model ship and his products made me do this one this week...one of my other passions, and the prize possession in that collection...my other passion in life is cars, and more specifically Porsche's...I have a bunch of model cars of them and none more valuable to me than this one. I bought this one in the museum gift shop in Stuttgart, it was my one and only souvenir from the trip other than photos...and this one resides on the top shelf of my display case.

A blend of 3 images, one for the front and the bulk of the car, one for the back corner and then I gelled a speedlight with a red gel to light up the tail light and some of the interior as if there was a red light inside the car...which race cars sometimes do have...the main light was the AD200 Bare Bulb through the new Glow Parapop 38...love that combo! The V860II was the speedlight. Shot on the r2 with the 70-200GM.

Travis, I'm flattered. Nice job shooting black on black.

This was my 1972 Porsche 914. I took this photo about 1973

Thanks Gene, its a matte black car on glass, over black foam core. I used a white foam board on my light stand arm to reflect only white and not the ceiling and stuff in the background...

Nice 914...always liked those...one day I will own a 911...just not right now...I was really close to buying one this year, but have decided it doesn't fit what I need right now.

911 is my dream car, doubt I’ll ever afford one though. I just got my 335 remapped to 375bhp so that’s giving me the fun in the mean time

Well I cant afford a new one, wanted one that is about 8 years old while resale is still falling...before it starts going back up. I think the 997.2 is going to be one of the variants that goes back up several years from now.

I must say, I'm not a great fan of the modern Porsche in general. Power and technology obviously they are great (as are most others...) but I much prefer the 80's/90's 911 and the above 914 too - such a quirky style to it.

I would love to have an older one, an old air cooled 964 or 993 variant...but those have gotten so expensive, and my wife has put a requirement on it that it has modern safety equipment...and the older 964's don't have any of that...and 993's, well, they are just way out of my price range...maybe one day I can have one that is just a fun car ti drive from time to time...dreams right...

Watching the hummingbirds from the inside out.

(This is a single exposure from the outside facing indoors of me looking outdoors) :-)

Thanks. I wish I were at or near the same height as the feeder though.

The view of my bathroom. It's a trip brushing your teeth here. :-P

Oh yeah, I have a light that's out too apparently.

Thanks very much. How about this weeks theme being "The Product shot". Submit a photo that you take this week of a product. It doesn't have to be lit with flash but it should highlight a single object. It doesn't even need to be by itself but the image should draw your eye to whatever the product is in some way.

At the end of Monday, Aug 13, the submittal with the most likes will be proclaimed the winner.

Here's the updated list of past themes too.

Week 1: Fresh Start/New Beginnings.
Week 2: Alone
Week 3: Something Old
Week 4: The Blues
Week 5: Cold
Week 6: Wet
Week 7: Numbers
Week 8: Cinematic
Week 9: Motion
Week 10: Get Low
Week 11: Green
Week 12: Leading Lines
Week 13: Spring
Week 14: Metallic
Week 15: Black & White
Week 16: Repeating
Week 17: Silhouettes
Week 18: Wheels
Week 19: Glass
Week 20: Food
Week 21: Contrast
Week 22: Light
Week 23: Hot
Week 24: Negative
Week 25: Skipped This week
Week 26: Open Theme
Week 27: Wide Angle
Week 28: Reflection
week 29: The product shot

I thought I'd help get the ball rolling with this 'product' shot. This was taken with natural light only coming from my sliding glass patio door that I flagged with a couple of pieces of black foamcore.

This is my Acme garlic slicer. ;-)a
