Taken in Acra, NY on the new moon in October. This was during the meteor shower, which I caught a few of, but I pulled those out. Used a 5DmkII with a 14mm Rokinon and stacked about 270 sixty second images.

Jul 26, 2018 06:48 | #356 This is my first star trail shot. I stacked 672 13 second exposures using Startrails, then lowered the exposure and upped the contrast in PS. Any critique would be appreciated. How do you get the north star to be a pinpoint spot? Is that the result of using Startrails instead of stacking manually? My shots were in focus IMO, so I don't think that's the issue (example below) Rocking the 6d2 and SL2 and (mostly) the 24-105 f4 L, 50mm f1.8 STM, and 135mm f2 L along with a few others.

It's approximately 40 arc minutes from the celestial pole, so it will never be a pin-point speck of light on star trails... it will always create an arc, like on your shot. Don't worry about it - your image got it right!

Aug 12, 2018 15:29 | #358 Fifty 30-second exposures with a 28mm lens, blended with a 3 minute exposure for the foreground. IMAGE LINK: https://flic.kr/p/Lhgrte![]() Star Trails and Meteor Showers ![]() ![]() One observation I made is that my ISO was too high. I guess you don't really want to capture quite so many stars when doing trail images, because then the image ends up looking a little busy. Another observation: bring my other camera, so I can have two cameras going at once! Nikon D850/FE and Fuji X-T2
