Can't even begin to describe how shooting this 1Div makes me want to run out and buy a 1DxII... Of course I would need longer glass too... How long is it till christmas ??

Jeff,
I'm struggling with the same problem. I have severe GAS pains and feel that I would get total relief from a 1DXII. I'm nowhere near the photographer that you are, and don't have or don't make time to access the photography areas I have similar to yours (3 hours away). But, I keep telling myself that if I had the 1DXII (I have the 1DX and 1DIV) that when I do go out, my keeper rate would significantly increase. Then I take a deep breath and think that maybe my money would be best spent long-term wise on an updated or longer super-telephoto since they are updated less frequently than bodies are.

The good news is that I'm down to searching for a clean used 1DXII only 3-4 times a week now and not several times a day. And then there's the rumored 7DIII. Ah, so much gear, so little money!

Nice one Jeff, but I want to see him when he's all "prettied" out. I guess I'll just have to wait. :-D

Ya we will have to wait just a bit

That 100-400 is without a doubt, is my favorite lens. It darn near does it all. Stick it on your 7DII and you've got a ton of reach (890mm equivalent). The 1DXII would be soooo nice but the price is quite scary. I'm still planning to wait for the 7DIII. I really want that extra 1.6 reach ya get with a crop camera.

Well the sensor in the 1D Mark IV is an APS-H sensor so you're in between crop and full frame and not doing too bad from the looks of it. Just take a couple extra steps :-).

I'm thinkin Canon has one more kick at the can before the mirrorless takes over... Wouldn't it be nice if they gave us a real bird and wildlife camera. 1Dv with a somewhat crop and maybe a slightly smaller form factor to cut some weight. I'm not sure a 7DIII is what I'm looking for as the future...

Lt Colonel You and me are doing the same thing.. I know the 1DxII is where its at... but I'm gona need the 200-400mm to go with it.

I was looking for a used 7DII but every time I find one I hit the brakes... maybe its the fact I've not had great luck at keeping them together.

either way I need a body to take into the future. and video is starting to interest me a lot

Try gas-x I hear it works lol

Theres no doubt its a great lens with and without the 1.4III. It has done it all for me. From chickadee's to lynx.. and back again.

I need something to move forward with. You can see my 7DII is beyond help now. I want something more than the 7DII now.

Shooting the 100-400L is always going to be there for us...until the 200-500L comes out.. or what ever is next.

Beautiful shots, Bjarne. I'm really fond of the 1st one. It has such a nice 3D look to it.

Doc, did you train him to pose in that manner? I know Jeff trains them to do those unique kinds of things. :p ;-)a Very nice shot.
