When I press the AF selection button, I now see focus points blinking. I checked a lot of settings and see nothing that would turn on/off this feature. I googled it earlier and some results are that the points that are not blinking are cross-type. Which I guess that is good, but I swear I've NEVER noticed them blinking before.

My short-term memory is pretty bad, but this has me stumped. Here's a video example I uploaded to my Dropbox:

Well, you should stop swearing, since they have indeed been blinking since day one. It's the way it should be.

I'm not so sure about that. The more I think about it the more I think it's a setting one can turn off.

I may visit B&H this week and bring it with me and look at their demo models.

I had already tried that. It is originally on Auto. Then I turn it off, then I turn it on. To no avail. Hoping to stop by B&H this week.

I just tried it and it worked. When disabled it stopped blinking. Auto only blinked when dark and when enabled blinks all of the time. Perhaps removing the battery or a camera reset. There two - clear custom functions and an entire reset. I did an entire reset once but before doing so took shots of all the menu screens with my iPhone so I could set them all back.

So I have yet to make it to B&H. I don't know anyone who has a 5D4. But, as I mentioned again, I swear I never noticed them blinking 'til I mounted a (new to me) 100 Macro. It's as if this lens triggered it. But I mount my 50mm STM and 24-105L, and it blinks with those as well now. Oh well...

Thanks for all the feedback.

i would leave this little bit of information out of any attempt to get warranty service.

if it's under warranty, and the 100 is a non-canon lens
