Hosted photo: posted by Timphoto in ./showthread.php?p=18691154&i=i47555269 forum: Member Activities I've done embroidery, and making that thing was a great deal of work. They take it out in the weather? Good question! We had something similar covering a row of trees here. It looked great at first but it didn't take long for the covers to become muddy, dirty and ugly. Luckily most have been removed now. Wild Birds of Europe: https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=19371752

Yes, focus was good enough to show the fibers, but to the naked eye the pink markings were more distinct. They looked drawn. A macro lens could have done better at making edges sharp. The G15 doesn't hack it when you get down this small. This is not about sharpness, OhLook. It's plenty sharp. Your camera just can't resolve all the detail, I think. Forget about all that, it's a great shot. It really is. Wild Birds of Europe: https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=19371752

If "unresolved detail" differs from "not sharp," I don't know the difference. Aug 24, 2018 16:16 | #21 Out for a drive through the countryside, I went through some very heavy rain - very limited visibility. I pulled off the road to wait it out, then continued on to a local Conservation Area (BLM and State Land) We haven't had a very good monsoon season, vegetation really hasn't greened up much. So, when there is a spot of color, it really catches your eye. Color appears closer to reality on the black background in the lightbox view. It's also referred to as acutance. The more contrast between one edge and the next in a photo, the sharper it will appear. If the transition is more gradual, the edge will look softer. Resolution has to do with how much detail a lens (and camera) can capture. It's a measurement of lines per millimetre. No doubt the two meet somewhere in between, but this is how I understand the two terms. With vastly less technical knowledge than yours, I understand sharpness as the opposite of blur. Sharpening is a way of correcting for imperfect focus or a camera/lens that wasn't up to the job.
