Two from WA, Cue if I'm not mistaken. Taken after a massive thunderstorm a few years back.

Schurl 128 Tyres (1) (external link) by Graham Bamber (external link) on Flickr

This is one side of the trailer. The axles don't go all the way across they have 2 "half " axles, that is there are duplicate axles on the other side.
The trailers are know as rows of 8, in this case 16 rows of 8 = 128 tyres on this trailer. Notice how the front axles are steering one way & the rear axles steering the other way.

Here are a couple of examples of a different configuration. Known as C Triples, or C trains, they allow more cargo space without exceeding allowable lengths in metro areas.

On this one (registered in South Australia) you can see the unusual middle trailer which allows to couple 3 trailers & stay within the permitted lengths.

Cabovers are so cool looking!! I love seeing the Scania's that get all done up with lights and paint jobs in Europe.

These guys are heavy haulage, I'd hate to think what weight they are pulling, but it takes 2 tractors to get them up the hill!

Line up of trucks carting wood chips.

The trees are grown on plantations, chipped on site & trucked to the wharf. (Destined for Japan mostly)

I've never know why they are called 18 wheelers, but here are some of mine collected around & about Western Australia.

18 wheels are the most common around my neck of the woods (truck cab has 10: 1 single pair in front, 2 double pair in back...then 8 with a single trailer: 2 double pairs). Interesting that you Aussies can have way more. Occasionally, I'll see double trailers, but a single trailer is quite common on our highways. It might have to do with safety regulations, since trailers are on busy highways. I'm in a metropolitan area that also has mountains to the North (where in some stretches, even single trailers have a hard time getting up or breaking while going down the mountains). Nice range of pics by the way!
