I adjust shutter speed/ISO on the fly. For example, if my current setting is for shooting dark bird, and need to switch to shooting snowy egret, I will increase my shutter speed (or decrease ISO) to compensate. I don't trust camera's exposure compensation  :p Also I shoot raw, it gives more room for post processing. Some over exposure is ok (even desired, look up ETTR), as long as the highlight is not completely blown out.

We took a ride to Moss Landing on Saturday to catch the sunset. There was heavy overcast so the sunset was a dud, but there are always plenty of animals to watch.
