AT MN Twins game vs Detroit, learning a new camera - A Sony a6000, I have a Sony NEX5n, so I use this type of camera for places I go with a large crowd, small area of seating vs my Canon.

The plane is a A330 flying from MSP (Twin Cities) to Amsterdam - data gather from FlightAware

Caught this USA Jet DC-9-32 on the cargo ramp at Charlotte. She was built in 1976, making her 42 years old, and was originally delivered to the Kuwait Air Force as a VIP transport.

The real reason I was out at CLT today - the New England Patriots arrived for a Friday night game against the Panthers. The registration, N36NE, is blocked on FlightAware, but checking flights between PVD and CLT for today, there was one listed as UDG4322 on a 763. Turns out they use the call sign "Underdog".

I see some really elaborate paint schemes on some of these planes here in the last few years......do any of you all know, are these skins or is this done with paint?

Seems painting would be pretty labor intensive and I know these planes go through some significant expansion contraction cycles with the altitudes and temeratures they are exposed to. So I wonder too about skins in that regard.

Great question - I don't know if the vinyl "wrap" type materials are yet up to the rigors of the job, just yet - extreme temperatures and changes in humidity, very high windspeeds and so on. Would be nice to know.

The Patriots jet has the guy facing the wrong way on the port side of the plane. On the helmets, he looks forward on both sides.

Wraps are used on larger planes too, I can't tell if that is a painted or wrapped plane.

This was a fun thread, even if it did take me three days to get through it. I found three aircraft that I have flown. That was a bonus. Probably a few more in there, but I could not make out the tail numbers. Here is a photo of a Qantas 747 just arrived DFW from Sydney a few minutes from their gate. Sorry about the quality. Back then I think I was just carrying a point and shoot and the front window is tinted.

I want to retake this picture so bad haha, one of my very first pictures with a real camera vs my cell phone. Unfortunately i no longer work at an airport and have ramp access. oh well.

Hmm... not a lot of A350 love in this thread (at least in 2018), eh?

And the (LH, anyhow) plane being chased out of MUC by the A350:
