Lame-Duck I have indeed had pine nuts More info | Sep 05, 2018 18:23 | #24257 Pondrader wrote in post #18700751 Every morning right now the sun hits the lake and the Loons take to the wing... They circle around calling the entire time. So I just had to go find a shot and process it. I dont know how many thousands of images I have of them airing out their wings. Just thought this on was kinda cool. Wonderful shot, Jeff. LD, or Mike

Color blast like crazy, from both the bird and the surrounds.. to top it all off, razor sharp detail and clarity around the eye and beak, and the smooth shadow transition as you go to the rear of the bird lend a nice 3D look.

Shalu...was this a one time only chance, or did you run across others? These two are absolutely gorgeous shots. Thank you very much, Mike! I took these shots when I visited Costa Rica in April. I asked resort employees about the bird and one of them told me he is knowledgeable about the bird and knew where to find them. So I paid him for a birding tour and we were lucky to spot a pair (well he did) as soon as we arrived at the spot. They left after only about 5 minutes. The light condition was very challenging in the rain forest, so the image quality is not as good as I hoped. Facebook

I have photographed them each time on three visits to CR, once while they were nesting. It's never enough!!!! Ed

Thanks Mathew. I got lucky with the shutterspeed as I normally shoot birds iso 400 with this slow lens and didn't even realise I was set at iso 200 See my fishy photography here: https://kevindickinsonfineartphot.smugmug.com/Tropical-Fish-2/
