I did borrow my friends SpyderLensCal a while ago and boy what a pain that is. Is the Tap easier for calibration?

I downloaded FoCal. Automated MFA software. Works pretty well. I used it to calibrate my 70-200 f4L IS, which I'm now selling in favor of a 2.8 variety. Was thinking canon, till I found out there is a G2 tammy!

Hahahaha! I hear ya on that one! Speaking of included,... you just missed a Tamron sale where it was included. Tamron sponsored two of those sales,... one right after launch for like a week, and for like a week back in July.

I see you're shooting with Canon,... according to what I hear and read, you may have less need for calibration than us Nikon users. Most say Tamron did a better job of reverse engineering Canon's algorithms than they did Nikon's. Just don't let the possible need to calibrate your glass scare you off. For me, it just made better sense to gradually pull things in over a period of normal use. I shoot a lot of baseball on a Nikon D500, and I gotta say, the Tamron is sharper than my old Nikon 70-200 f2.8G VR II. When I compare early Tamron shots to Nikon shots, it wasn't that way,... now it is.

How's this lens for tracking fast action? You say it has fast AF, ok all well and good, but how does it affect the tracking on your D500? My 80D tracks fairly well. At least it does for motorsports. My canon L lens was great, and helped the camera to perform at it's peak. Curious how this lens compares.

I focused on the red star on the Heineken. I was looking into the Tap as well. Have you used it?

Yeah I have. For me, it improved on what I thought there wasn't any room for improvement. Took me longer to figure out a good method for determining if AF adjust was necessary and a smaller learning curve around the console itself. But in the end it was worth it.

Tracks very good. I only had my final copy of the Tammy G2 and the Nikon VRII for about 4 days before the Nikon sold. To me, the tracking on the Tammy was just as good if not better than the Nikon VRII. Most reviewers have pointed out that the older Nikon 70-200G VRII tracks better than the Nikon's newer 70-200E. I've never used Nikon's new 70-200, so I can't compare it to that lens,... but it is speedy and accurate.

I think the Tamron focuses just as quick as the previous Nikon G VR II version. Haven't heard any complaints about it being slower than Nikon's current 70-200. Tracks well for me,... never leaves me feeling like the D500 is waiting on the glass attached to it.

I shoot canon. But only talked about the Nikon comparison because of the video. I'd imagine it's on par with canon's L lenses as well.

Simply amazing at f/4

I have thought about this lens for sports, mostly indoor track, on my 7D. I have rented the Canon version which worked well but at the price of the Tamron, would like to own a 70-200 F2.8. If the AF and tracking is good, might have to buy one.

The lens is awesome. I moved from the Nikon 70-200 2.8G VRII and it blows that thing out of the water when it comes to speed, sharpness and image stabilization. Reviews say it holds it's own very nicely against Nikon's latest 70-200 model,... and you can almost buy three of the Tammies for what you'll pay for one of the Nikons. I'm pretty sure it performs just as well on Canon bodies, but test it out to make sure. Some 3rd party glass do perform differently across body brands, but I've heard nothing but praise from both Nikon and Canon users. Good luck! Oh,... drop the coin for the Tamron Doc,... you won't be sorrow.
