Does anyone know if the a7riii does the same thing? If I recall, my a7rII did that as long as I shot in raw. I could change to 16:9 for shooting. Once opened in ACR, I could 'uncrop' back to the standard 3:2. I haven't tried that with my a7rIII though but don't see why it wouldn't work there as well. I think it's only jpeg output that permanently crops. Gene - My Photo Gallery ||

The rx1rii has 4 options which isn’t as many as I would like but I suppose it’s better than the 2 my a7riii gives. I wish manufacturers would allow you to input custom ratios Leica M11 | Leica Q2 | Sony α7RV

I tend to shoot my car stuff in 16:9 but when imported into LR it does record the complete 3:2 & give me the option to crop back out!

I shot this using my Laowa 15mm macro. IMAGE LINK: https://flic.kr/p/2aXChZVThe BTS shot: I placed an old hourglass on my cutting board, hung a window screen frame with tracing paper taped inside on a "C" stand, put a Nissin Di700A flash behind that and used an old wood panel as a backdrop. This was shot at f32 so the ambient light was pretty much killed. Image hosted by forum (932636) © navydoc [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. Please log in to see the good quality stuff. The grains of falling sand were a bit tricky to focus on. There was also a lot of small grains stuck to the inside of the glass due to static electricity that I had to deal with...and focus through as well. I minimized them by using Topaz Simplify.
