Kelby mentioned in his Q&A that the other adapters won't be available 'til February.

I know you can buy it, but youtubers shouldn't say it comes with the camera if it does not, or retailers should be able to answer the question.

Again, it depends where the folks that say that are geographically. Everyone could actually be correct, those that say it is included in the kit and those that say it isn't. The issue is that folks hear one thing, but don't dig into that statement, and then allocate that statement to another region.

EX: USA guy hears a blogger say that the adapter is included in the kit, and then tells all his friends in the US the same, when it isn't true. But the blogger is from Australia, let's say, and in that country, Canon packages the adapter with the camera, so the blogger is correct, showing that the USA guy took something out of context.

:)

Instead of saying that it is included in the kit, the YouTuber should say that so-and-so claimed that it is included in the kit, and then cite that source.

Many people are far too casual with the way they present information (or misinformation, as the case may be).

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Still, the shops should be capable of giving you that information.
e.g in France, the 3 online shops I go to clearly state that the EF-EOS R adapter is included.

B&H Website information says the adapter is optional.
IMHO, this is silly, they should at least bundle the basic EF adapter.

To make matters worse, it looks like B&H is looking to really do a cash grab, as the basic adapter is listed at $400.00!! They should at least fix this error.

B&H is pretty good at bundling stuff. So maybe they will include it.

early adopters gets the shaft. It will get bundled by vendors after the first "wave" goes through. I promise you it is NOT included in the price of the camera. It will be an add on.

Deal with it. No different than the EOS-M release. Cmon'... this is Canon we are talking about. It's completely predictable.

One of the reviews somewhere seemed to imply that the basic EF adapter will come with the EOS R. Not one major camera store can confirm nor deny, which is slightly annoying.

With EF adapter from Wex in the UK: https://www.wexphotovideo.com …1XJAtZEAQYASABEgKgO_D_BwE (external link)

Body only from B&H in the US: https://www.bhphotovideo.com …r_mirrorless_digital.html (external link)

But... the US price is $2299, and the UK price converts to over $3000... so don't feel too bad ;-)a

No actually, they have their skus and prices mixed up. Now is the time to order the drop in filter...

Time to order 20 and sell on eBay ;)

(I suspect they'll have some clause that means they don't need to sell you the filter adaptor for $99 though)

I agree with that. People want to be influencers and experts in this space, but few are doing it completely and objectively.

Canon Explorers of Light

It's like the Nikon ambassador using the Nikon Z7 for wildlife........ Sure, you can make it work, but with it's extremely small buffer and slow framerate, it's probably not the best idea. Wont stop the ambassadors!

Scott Kelby isn't listed as a Canon Explorer of Light. Joel Grimes and Lindsay Adler are listed. It's possible he has some other professional relationship with Canon, but it doesn't appear to be as an explorer of light.

kirkt had what I thought was a great idea, bundle the basic adapter with every L lens sold from here on out. Not only would it eliminate a barrier to the lens buyer trying the mirrorless camera, it would probably also flood the used market and make a lot of people happy to be able to pick up a cheap backup adapter. People could sell them and upgrade to a control ring or drop-in. Such a good idea i'm sure canon would never do it.

I agree that a basic adapter should be included with the body, at least for the first few models until the system gains more acceptance.

However, considering that just the tripod collars for some Canon lenses have MSRPs greater than $200 (US), the basic adapter is almost a bargain at $100.
