Sep 13, 2018 16:02 | #3 This level of prom activity (which are filaments seen from a surface angle) is pretty wild for a solar minimum. Usually it's one filament here, etc. This is several filaments seen from the side, near each other, making a huge forest of prominences. Really a special treat during the solar minimum. While sunspots are few and far between (and very, very small and short lived on top of that) during the minimum, there are always prominences, at least small ones. There are days though that there are very few prominences large enough to notice, with no sun spots, and no disc facing filaments, making for a truly void looking sun, at least, at low magnification. But there's always something to see in narrowband at high resolution.
