I heard the joke at least fifteen years ago, in this country, but it referred to football.

I think it's been around far longer than that . . .

The beauty of the NZ/Aus joke thing is that we make the exact same jokes about each other, with just the countries changed. Charming, but kind of pointless.

My point was that it was originally not necessarily about Australia or New Zealand, but any football, rugby etc team. It can be adapted or appropriated any way you wish.

Roy, I know. I thought I was confirming your point. Brief posts don't always convey a full message ...

The NZ Oz ribbing is deeply embedded. Here's a conversation shared on a local rag here

the moment I walked in the room it was our political landscape that was the laughing stock.
They couldn’t help but fall about the place joking about who was our prime minister.

Had it change again in the past 10 minutes? Should I check the news in case there was a different one from when I flew out of Tasmania?

Again, if you're not in the know, then this too will be lost.

Maybe so, but some of us like it that way. :-P

In 2018, switched to my fourth Sony system, this time an a7R3. The THIRD rendition of lenses includes a Loxia 21, Canon TS-Es in 24mm (gen.2) and 50mm (gen.3), and Sony zooms in 70-200/4 and 24-105/4.

If women designed computers, internet, etc., then these would match.

Umm. I understood Hoof's joke to have a nonliteral meaning.

I subtly changed his quote.
