Sep 17, 2018 22:09 | #2379 Two more with these demonstrating a shutter speed of 1/2500 sec. is not fast enough when shooting jets flying at 400 mph (+/-) from opposing directions. I was tracking the planes going right to left. Having a camera that can shoot 10 FPS is a big help.

You may have cropped too deep, have a less than a razor sharp lens, or a filter on it or a less than perfect pan. Any or all will combined will have that effect on the photo. The first of my samples was shot at 1/1600 & carefully edited, but the second was just shot sat at 1/2000 and is a very quick edit to the jpg. because I'm not working on the files relating to the Snowbirds performance yet. Each image just before and just after these images showed only one jet. I got lucky. I really wish the SS had been 1/5000 sec. There was enough light to go that fast without ISO being too high. This was my first air show with performers like the Blue Angels, hopefully it won't be the last.
