Thank you all :) I was so pissed off for NOT having a tripod AND having quite bland sunrise (hence the long exposure and the struggle with the composition) that I'm happy to have one picture that attracted your attention!

Not too bad, but you have some bad haloing on the rocks against the sky on the left.

Ha, you are absolutely right! Thank you for mentioning it, I haven't noticed it, I'm afraid!

Also looking at it now I believe my filter was dirty or something cause there are lots of hmm scattered dots all over it...

I had a walk along this pier yesterday and the only camera I had with me was my mobile phone, so:

That time of year here. Actually, I think this is a week earlier than normal. A couple from today, one tree shot and the horror of going up there on a Sunday when the leaves are changing. (I think it got worse, a lot worse, after I left, just judging by the non-stop stream of cars heading up there.

For the most part the spring and summer and winter are calm(er) in regards to photographers here in Colorado. In the fall the leaf viewing is compressed into a couple of weeks so lots of people, a lot of them non-photographers, are up there. Pick a popular spot in Utah at nearly any time of year though and you are going to find photographers, so you need to pick your spots, but you can still get out there and get away from people.

Wildlife photography would seem to require more patience than I have, seems like you would never know where one of those critters is going to pop up. Landscapes don't move around....
